UPDATED: Teen intentionally crashes car into Shorecrest HS | 911
A 17-year-old boy crashed his car into an entrance at Shorecrest High School on Friday night, and police believe he did it on purpose.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. King County Sherriff spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart says that the boy, a Shorecrest student from Lake Forest Park, drove the 2002 Subaru Outback through an entrance and 75 yards down a hallway before crashing into the school's security office.
Two school employees were in the school when the crash happened, but they were not hurt.
Investigators contacted the car's registered owners, the teen's parents, soon after the crash. About 90 minutes later, the teen was arrested on the school grounds. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for a mental evaluation.
The teen was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, it was determined. He also was not taken to the King County Youth Center.
The car was pushed out of the hallway and picked up by the teen's parents on Saturday.
Shoreline School District spokesman Craig Degginger said that Shorecrest did not suffer any structural damage from the crash and that school would begin on time on Monday.
"We are relieved that no one was seriously hurt," he said.
A KOMO viewer sent us these photos from the scene, and as you can tell, a decent amount of damage was done in the incident.
