A 22-year-old man from Shoreline was one of seven people arrested during violent anti-Olympic protests in Vancouver on Saturday morning.
Daniel Frederick Meyers was charged by Vancouver police of possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon. He is still in a Vancouver jail pending immigration matters.
He was the only person charged with more than one crime from the Heart Attack protest on Saturday, which ended with numerous newspaper boxes thrown about, multiple smashed windows at the Hudson's Bay store in downtown Vancouver and damaged a number of cars in the area.
Two women, 23 and 18, were charged with assaulting a police officer and are still in jail. Two other women and two men in their 20s were charged with breach of the peace and released from jail on Saturday night.
CTV quotes Vancouver police saying that they were part of about 100 anarchists from Canada and the U.S. who were using a tactic called "black bloc", where they wear black masks to hide their identity and try and provoke police to goad them into confrontations.
